A risk heat map is a visual tool that is used in risk management to visualize and analyze potential risks within a project, process, or organization. It simplifies complex risk data and plots it into a clear and easy-to-understand matrix format. This tool provides a method for risk prioritization and supports informed and data-driven decision-making. It enables effective risk analysis while guiding mitigation strategies to promptly address significant risks and minimize negative consequences.

This risk analysis heat map template allows to document and assess risks by categorizing them within the matrix based on their impact and likelihood of occurrence. Risk impact is often shown on the vertical axis (Y), while risk likelihood of occurrence is shown on the horizontal axis (X). Traffic light colors are often used to enhance the visual effectiveness of the matrix and make it immediately clear which risks require the most attention.

This risk heat map template is available in Microsoft PowerPoint widescreen format that can be customized to fit your specific needs. For example, you may increase the number of risk entries if you have multiple risks to include. You may also display the risk descriptions directly on the map. You may even add additional slides to extend the functionality of the template, such as including a risk register and a detailed risk mitigation action plan.

Note that this template also includes an issue heat map that highlights the most pressing issues within your project and their current resolution status.
