Time Value Map Template

A time value map is a tool for representing the value-added and non-value-added time in a process. In a time value map, all activities are plotted as bars proportional to their time values along a horizontal timeline. Only value-added activities are plotted above the timeline and everything else is plotted below the timeline. This time value map template can be used to monitor how much time is wasted in any process.

Gantt Charts

Gantt Charts

When managing projects, large number of activities are to be controlled and completed on time. If you miss a deadline, the costs may increase considerably and you may even be penalized. A Gantt Chart is a visual representation that provides an instant overview of the status of a project. It outlines all activities involved in a project against a timescale. A basic Gantt chart simply lists what needs to be done and when. It is often used by any industry that requires project management such as: construction, telecommunications, information technology and management consulting.   Read more »

Process Chart Template

A Flow Process Chart is a representation showing the sequence of activities within a process. This type of process map is preferable when documenting sequential processes that contain few decisions. This template allows to record the steps of a process in a tabular format. It is often used to identify waste by analyzing the non-value adding steps, long delays and excessive transportation. It then produces performance indicators such as; total value added time, distance traveled for transport activities, and value stream ratio.

Project Charter

Project Charter

A Project Charter is a one page document that summarizes the fundamental information of a project before it begins. It clarifies the project objectives and scope, addresses the needs of the stakeholders, and defines the roles and responsibilities of the project team. The information in the project charter is critical for obtaining leadership support and commitment to provide the necessary funding and resources. Once signed, it authorizes the project leader to formally start on the project and use the necessary resources and funding to complete the project successfully.

Process Yield Measures

Process Yield Measures

An ideal process must produce without defects and without rework. To expose these unnecessary and costly inefficiencies, you should have appropriate performance metrics to measure process yield, or otherwise, the true process yield might be underestimated. Process yield measures should be able to expose even the smallest inefficiencies in a process, which will enable operations to understand their true process yield in order to set realistic improvement targets.

Time Value Map

Time Value Map

A time value map is a graphical representation of the value-added and non-value-added time in a process. It focuses on what adds value to the business process as perceived by the customer. The aim is to make the process more efficient while maximizing the value delivered to the customer. It is one of the many Lean tools that will help to identify and analyze waste and non-value-added activities in your processes.
