A Kaizen Report is a form that documents and summarizes continuous improvement activities. It is used to share and spread best practices across an organization, division or group. There are a variety of ways to share Kaizens including public display boards, emails and the intranet. Some departments or teams may prefer to use a dedicated Kaizen bulletin board. In all cases, Kaizens should be written simple and interesting to read. Kaizens with photos or drawings tend to capture more attention.
A decision to implement the idea should come after discussion and agreement with the team. After implementing the idea and prior submitting the Kaizen report, it should be verified that what is documented has been completely implemented and is working properly. In some cases, it is necessary to revert back to the previous method when the improvement goal has not been achieved. If the improvement goal has been achieved, a final approval of the Kaizen report should be obtained.
